Basic Human Rights

Basic human rights are the rights and privileges that people and society need to live in dignity. These include the right to life, education, health, housing, property, social security, employment and fair pay, as well as the right to live in a favourable environment. The United Nations International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights states that these rights apply to everyone, independently of their race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, nationality or social origin, property status, birth or other circumstances.
