Right to a Fair Trial

The right to a fair trial is one of the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia. The protection of other human rights and fundamental freedoms depends to a large extent on the proper safeguarding of the right to a fair trial. The most common probems are disproportionately long litigation processes, quality of legal aid, enforcement of judgments, access to justice for people with disabilities.


Example: The state has given me a lawyer but, in our conversations, it feels that he does not even get acquainted with all the materials of the case. I am starting to question his professionalism.
